It is written with raw emotion that allows for insight into the healing experiences of a healer, but also touches on subjects and emotions that most anyone can identify with. The poems in each chapter build on one another as they guide the reader deeper into a state of transformation from; grounding to awakening, to noticing and finally transforming and healing. The power of the words are paired with beautiful artwork, that lends to even further reflection. This book reminded me to slow down in life, to take in my experiences and be more mindful of my own feelings as I journey through so many experiences both challenging and heartwarming, so that I can just be in those moments whole heartedly. Each time my 6 year old and I open the book and read a poem together, we find ourselves immersed in thoughts and conversations about what it means to heal on this journey we call life. I particularly appreciated the colorful descriptions of nature that were familiar and easy to picture. Since I don’t read poetry regularly, I really thought it was cool that the author provided an appendix in the back of the book where she wrote a brief explanation of what was on her mind and where she was when she wrote each poem. The author presents honest and candid insights into what inspired her to write this book. I found the book motivational. It provided a framework to reflect on my own life and provided a framework to capture my own positive energy through creativity and self awareness. During the pandemic I recognize those that have flourished despite the adversity. It is possible!!! I will use this book to join the ranks of those that choose to rise above the rancor of our times and find joy and possibility in my daily life. Kudos Dr. Loeb!!!
